The Indians couldn’t overcome a early deficit and pick up a win Tuesday on the road.
No. 4 Tates Creek scored twice in the first and three more times in the second and went on to claim a 9-3 win over Madison Central in Lexington. The Commodores had 12 hits as they handed the Indians (8-3) just their third loss of the season.
Central had just six hits and committed three errors. Indians hitters also drew six walks.
Kyle Kelsey started for the Indians and took the loss. He went 3 2/3 innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits, while walking three and striking out three.
Kirkland Humphrey pitched 1 1/3 inning of relief, allowing two runs on four hits, while Brady McBride worked the final inning, giving up just one hit.
Central trailed 5-0 heading into the third, but got back in the game by scoring a couple of runs. Chris Well walked and stole second and third, then scored on a single by Jacob Frazier. Josh Wright followed with an RBI double.
The Indians were able to push across one more run in the seventh. Seth Richardson reached on an error, Jimmy Wright walked and Ben Fisher singled to load the bases.
Dakota Lakes grounded into a double play that scored a run.
Jake Caldwell was 1-for-1 with a walk, Jimmy Wright was 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and an RBI. Fisher was 1-for-3 with a walk, Jonah Kelsey walked, Wells was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored, Frazier was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI and Josh Wright was 1-for-2 with a double.
Central is set to return to action today at Lexington Catholic.
Model falls at Nicholas County
The Patriots got a solid pitching performance from freshman Seth Marks, but couldn’t come up with a win Tuesday on the road.
Nicholas County pulled out a 4-3 win in Carlisle.
Model is now 4-9 on the season.
A.J. Hammons had two singles and an RBI. Trey Baker had a double and Ray White was 2-for-4 with two singles.
Marks pitched the first four innings before Jared Adams come on to pitch the final three innings.
The Patriots are set to return to action Thursday at Lexington Christian Academy in the 11th Region All “A” Classic.
Rockcastle County tops Southern
The Eagles suffered a 7-6 loss to Rockcastle County Tuesday in Berea.
With the loss, Madison Southern falls to 2-14 on the season.
The Eagles are set to return to action today at Clay County.
