After two rounds of the 2013 Colonel Classic, Eastern Kentucky University freshman Anna Gleixner is tied with two others for first place and the EKU women’s golf team sits in second place.
Gleixner opened play on Friday with a round of 75 before firing a 1-under 71 in round two. Her 36-hole total of 146 (+2) is tied with Jenna Hague of Ball State and Sathika Ruenreong of Toledo. Three more players sit two shots off the lead.
The Colonels shot rounds of 303 and 305 for a total of 608. Eastern is 12 shots behind first place Toledo (596) and one shot in front of third place Ball State (609). Bowling Green (613) is fourth.
The event is being contested at Arlington Golf Club, a par-72, 5,807-yard course.
EKU’s April Emerson (152) is tied for eighth overall. She shot rounds of 73 and 79. Freshman Becky Sharpe (154) is tied for 12th. Kristen Dorsey (156) is tied for 25th.
The final round of the 2013 Colonel Classic will begin at 10 a.m. today with a shotgun start.
