H.S. BASKETBALL: Berea falls at McCreary Central, 58-49

RICHMOND — The Berea Community Lady Pirates (11-14) fell to McCreary Central, 58-49, in Whitley City on Wednesday.

Jordan Sandefur led the way for the Lady Pirates with a team-best 20 points. Victoria Sexton also was in double figures with 12 points. Chase Fain and Alexandria Horn had four points each, while Conner Coyle added three points and Miranda Montgomery and Emily Keyser had two points each.

The game was close most of the way.

The Lady Pirates held a one-point advantage, 14-13, after one quarter and after the teams each scored 15 points in the second quarter, took the slim margin, 29-28, in the locker room at the half.

McCreary Central slipped out to a 43-41 lead at the end of the third quarter, then outscored the Lady Pirates 15-8 to pull away in the fourth quarter.

Berea returns to action Friday at 7:30 against Nicholas County in Berea.
