BASKETBALL: Brooks, Feldhaus having success in college

RICHMOND — Former Madison Central Lady Indians’ stars Larryn Brooks and Ashton Feldhaus are off to good starts to their freshman seasons in college.

Brooks has been nothing short of sensational thus far for Indiana University.

In six games, the Hoosiers’ point guard is the team’s leading scorer, averaging 18 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4 assists per game.

Brooks had a season-high 25 points Nov. 12 against Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne and has had 19 points on three other occasions, including last weekend’s 84-69 win over Feldhaus and Butler.

She was named the Big 10 Conference Freshman of the Week on Nov. 12.

Brooks has helped a young Hoosiers’ squad get off to a 6-0 start, the best beginning to a season since the 2006-07 squad.

Feldhaus, a key reserve on a veteran Butler team, has played in all five games for the Bulldogs this season.

She is averaging 3.0 points and 2.2 rebounds, while playing an average of 14 minutes a game.

Feldhaus had a season-high seven points twice, against Cleveland State and St. Mary’s of California.

In the matchup with her former teammate, Feldhaus had two rebounds in 11 minutes of play in a loss to Indiana.

Bosley shining for                 Kentucky Wesleyan

Ken-Jah Bosley has made an immediate impact during his first season at Kentucky Wesleyan.

The freshman has started four of the Panthers’ first five games of the season and is the team’s second-leading scorer. The Madison Central graduate is averaging 12.2 points a game.

Last Tuesday in a loss to Southern Indiana, Bosley had a career-best 22 points. He was eight-of-17 from the field, four-of-nine from three-point range and two-of-four from the free throw line. He also had four rebounds and two steals in 29 minutes of action.

In an exhibition game against Louisville on Oct. 29, Bosley had a team-best 21 points and six rebounds.

Kentucky Wesleyan (1-4) is set to return to action Wednesday in Owensboro against Lake Superior State.
