H.S. HOOPS: Central seniors named to Kentucky All-Star teams

RICHMOND — Four Madison Central standouts have been selected to play for the 2013 Kentucky All-Star Basketball Teams.

On Saturday, Dominique Hawkins and Ken-Jah Bosley were named to the boys’ All-Star squad. On Sunday, Larryn Brooks and Ashton Feldhaus were named to the girls’ squad.

Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus will coach this year’s boys’ team.

The Kentucky All-Stars will take on the Indiana All-Stars in June — June 14 at Freedom Hall in Louisville and on June 15 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The rest of the boys’ all-star team includes: Devonte Grundy (Bardstown), Darryl Hicks (Trinity), Stuart Jackson (Central), Tyler Jones (Montgomery County), Ray Kasongo (Pikeville), Jordan Majors (Hopkinsville), Omar Prewitt (Montgomery County), Rusty Troutman (Bullitt East), Jack Whitman (Lexington Catholic) and Derek Willis (Bullitt East).

The rest of the girls all-star team includes: China Dow (Louisville Christian), Makayla Epps (Marion County), Kyvin Goodin-Rogers (Marion County), Becca Greenwell (Owensboro Catholic), Jessica Hardin (Wayne County), Whitney Hartiage (Mercy), Michaela Hunter (Rockcastle County), Taylor Porter (Lawrence County), Logan Powell (Marion County) and Beth Rates (Hancock County).

The girls’ team will be coached by Chris Souder (Mercer County).

Hawkins averaged nearly 20 points a game last season and was named Mr. Basketball on Friday in Louisville. The senior led Central to its first Sweet 16 championship and was named the MVP of the tournament.

He is expected to get a scholarship offer from the University of Kentucky this week.

Bosley averaged 18 points a game for Central and came up big during the Indians’ state tournament title run. The senior hit a three-pointer in the closing seconds of the title game that turned out to be the game-winner.

Bosley is being recruited by a number of schools, including Northern Kentucky and Georgetown College.

Feldhaus and Brooks were four-year starters for the Lady Indians and led the team to two 11th Region championships (2013, 2011).

Both scored more than a 1,000 points in their careers and have signed with Division I Schools — Brooks with Indiana University and Feldhaus with Butler.
