RICHMOND — The Lady Colonels will looking to bounce back from their first conference loss of the season when they take on Morehead State (8-7, 2-0 OVC) at 5:15 today in Morehead.

EKU has won the last three meetings between the two teams and leads the all-time series 43-41.

EKU (86-, 2-1 OVC) staged a furious second-half comeback to get to with one point of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Tuesday, but couldn’t quite get over the hump and fell 75-71.

Three Lady Colonels fouled out of the game in which SIUE went to the free throw line 31 times, hitting 27 of those.

Marie Carpenter once again led the way for EKU with 20 points. Shelly Harper finished with 16 points and Pilar Walker had 13 points. Carpenter moved past former teammate Alex Jones to No. 14 on the EKU all-time scoring list with 1,293 points.

Carpenter had one three pointer against the Cougars and now needs only four more to tie the EKU career three-pointers made record of 170.

Morehead State is coming off a 57-54 win over Edwardsville on Wednesday and has won four games in a row.

Senior guards Terrice Robinson and Shanice Parker had 14 points each in the win over the Cougars on Wednesday.

Robinson leads the Lady Eagles in scoring at 18.3 points per game. Almesha Jones is second, averaging 10.8 points per game, while Parker adds 7.8 points per game.

Today’s contest features the Ohio Valley Conference’s top two defenses going head-to-head.
