H.S. BASKETBALL: Lady Indians top Leslie County, Pirates fall

RICHMOND — The Lady Indians (6-3) got an outstanding performance from senior Shadae Bosley and rolled to an easy win over Leslie County at the Bourbon County Holiday Classic Friday in Paris.

Bosley had 28 points and 22 rebounds in the 64-44 win.

Madison Central had a 22-point halftime lead and was never threatened in the second half.

“I think the key for us was our guards,” Central coach Robbie Cooksey said. “They handled the press really well. Bailey O’Bryan did a great job getting the ball up the court.”

O’Bryan hit a couple of threes early to get Central out to a fast start. The senior finished with eight points.

Raevin Cain had 12 points and seven rebounds, Haley Christian and Lindsay Johns had six points each and Kasi Schneid had four points.

Central will take on Presentation at 6:30 p.m. today in Paris.



Starr’s Mill, Ga. 62, Berea Community 22

The Pirates got off to a slow start Friday and weren’t able to bounce back.

Berea trailed by double digits after the first quarter and went on to suffer a 62-22 loss to Starr’s Mill, Ga. in the opening round of the Rock Holiday Classic in Venice, Fla.

The Pirates will play Venice, Fla., at 5 p.m. today.

Senior Trey Terrill had a team-high nine points and eight rebounds. Shyiem Alexander had four points, Austin Warford added three points, Jarel Tevis and Derrick Castle each had two points each and Andy Allen and Bradley Atkins had one point each.

Berea was nine-of-16 from the free throw line and was 1-of-11 from three-point range.

The Pirates trailed 28-10 at halftime and were out-scored 20-4 in the third quarter.
