H.S. WRESTLING: Fain, Morrow and Couch shine at meet

Three Madison Central wrestlers had outstanding performances Saturday at a meet at Seneca High School.

Senior Tucker Fair took first place in the 220-pound weight division, senior Paul Couch finished second in the heavyweight division and freshman Chris Morrow took third place in the 132-pound division.

Fair was competing in his first meet of the season and was strong on his feet. The senior had a pin over a Trinity wrestler in the semifinals and another win by pin in the championship match against an opponent from Pleasure Ridge Park.

Couch defeated a wrestler from Trinity in the quarterfinals and beat an opponent from Pleasure Ridge Park in the semifinals. The senior lost in the finals to a top 10 ranked opponent from Grant County.

Morrow finished with a 4-1 record at the meet. The freshman had two come-from-behind victories and had three wins by pin.

The Madison Central wrestling team is set to return to action Saturday at Lafayette.
