H.S. TENNIS: Patriots top Whitley County

RICHMOND — The Model Laboratory boys tennis team earned a solid road win Friday in Williamsburg.

The Patriots won both doubles matches and defeated Whitley County, 4-1.

Gus Benson, Model’s No. 1 singles player, dropped his first set in high school competition this season, but still picked up a three-set win. Benson defeated Danny Butcher, 6-2, 0-6, 1-0 (8).

At No. 2 singles, Model’s Cole Wilson fell to Peter Camparoni, 6-3, 6-1.

At No. 3 singles, Levi Agee defeated Whitley County’s Reece Holcomb, 6-2, 6-1.

In doubles, Jack Frisbie and James Logue defeated Matthew Douglas and Chris Tan, 6-3, 6-2.

Blake Benson and Nolan Kelley topped Lucas Moses and Mikey Johnson, 6-3, 6-4.

Model is set to return to action Tuesday at Berea Community.
