RICHMOND —

EKU seventh at Grub Mart Invitational

The EKU men’s golf team teed it up last Monday and Tuesday in Jacksonville, Ala., in the 21st-annual Grub Mart Intercollegiate.  

They finished seventh with a score of 924.  

The event was contested at the par 72, 6,886-yard Silver Lakes Course.

Host Jacksonville State, 869, captured the team title by 17 shots over Columbus State, 886. Johan Eriksson led the Colonels with a 228; Taylor Riggs had 232; Stuart Witt, Garrett Hinton and Daniel DeLuca all had identical scores of 236.

The Colonels will be back in action at the Ohio Valley Championship in Dickson, Tenn. on April 25-27.

Saturday at Battlefield – Model Project Graduation. Cost is $75 per person and includes cart, green fee and lunch. Lots of prizes. Tee time at 9 a.m. For info, call Doug Dirks at 314-1114.

April 27-28 — Presidents Cup between Madison Country Club and Blue Grass Army Depot.

April 27 at Battlefield – Madison Central Project Graduation. Cost is $50 per person or $200 per team includes cart, green fee and lunch. Prizes: First — $300; Second — $250 and third — $200. There will also be prizes for closest to pin and long drive. For info call Donya Smith at 624-5535.
