GOLF: Battlefield surrenders to Marine Corps



June 28 — Battlefield Golf Course —Golf scramble to benefit Hospice Care Plus.  $50 per player, $200 per team, lunch provided after tournament.  Cash prizes will be awarded to the First Place Team. Lots of prizes and surprises throughout the day.  The tournament starts at noon.  All proceeds benefit Hospice Care Plus which has been serving Jackson, Lee, Madison, Estill and Rockcastle counties for more than thirty years. Big hearted Gillum’s Sports Lounge is the sponsor.  To enter, contact Kelly Gillum at 623-2335 or 420-3337.

June 29 – Battlefield Golf Course – The Ed Miracle Scholarship Golf Scramble is a mixed scramble. Entry fee is $50 per person, $200 per team; with hole sponsorships $100; cart sponsorship, $25.  Prizes awarded for first and second Place. Prizes awarded for longest drive and closest to the pin. To enter call Brenda Blankenship at 624-2479 or 979-0581. This tournament will benefit two 2014 high school graduating Seniors scholarships.  It is for a wonderful cause.

July 11 – Arlington Golf Course – Colonel Classic – Entry fee $125 after June 28, fee is $150. Entry deadline isJuly 5.  Pre- tournament food and beverages, post tournament dinner, special Colonel Club Golf Classic gifts.  Registration begins at 11 a.m. at the Mule Barn. Lunch will also be at the Mule Barn.

There will be a shotgun start at noon. The tournament is sponsored by Kentucky Bank. For more information call 622-2046 or email

July 12-14 – Berea Country Club – Men’s Invitational Tournament – Entry fee $130 (cart not included) includes dinner and music Saturday night and practice round. Friday night shootout at 5 p.m. All flights pay four places cash prizes. Tee times begin 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. 

Sunday flights and tee times will be determined by Saturday’s score. Field will be limited to 96 players. Sign up deadline is July 8. For more information call 986-7141.
