BOWLING: Cracraft leads the way at Galaxy

(Continued)

RICHMOND —

Seniors tournament scheduled for June 23

The next monthly seniors tourney will be held on Sunday, June 23, at 2 p. m.

This tournament is open to all men and women aged 50 or higher. Bowlers will be granted a handicap of 90 percent of the difference between their best 2012-13 average and 220.

The entry fee is $15 to bowl three games. Cash prizes will be awarded.

Blast from the past

While rummaging through some of my “stuff”, I discovered a program for the 1973 banquet of the Arlington Women’s Bowling League. The names of several prominent ladies who are current or former residents of Richmond were included in this program.

Marlene Hino was the president, Ima Lee Catinna the vice president and Louise Ridgley was the secretary-treasurer of this league.

Catinna had the highest average, while the best game and series scores were bowled by Ridgley, Bobby Clawson, Peggy Coy and Roz Eldot.

Several women received honor awards for bowling achievements including Ruth Acker, Doris Allen, Debbie Barkley, Dixie Gibbs, Shirley Gibson, Ruth Henson, Janie Hicks, Mae Higgins, Jeanie Jett, Tabitha Kunkel and Marcia Luy.

Honor awards were also earned by Louise McCord, Donna Meade, Phyllis Otero, Peggy Pope, Norma Robinson, Pauline Shindelbower, Linda Sweet, Joan Taylor, Cindy Webster and Betty White.

Some of these ladies are deceased or no longer living in Madison County.

I would encourage those who are still living in this area, but not currently bowling, to dust off their bowling balls and roll back into action.

Galaxy is currently offering a pass for $19.95 which allows unlimited bowling from now through Aug. 31.

This provides an excellent opportunity to rekindle your bowling fun at a bargain rate.
