SWIMMING: Patriots swim past Eagles

RICHMOND — The Patriots posted first-place finishes in 13 of 20 events and defeated Lexington Christian Academy Thursday in a meet at Eastern Kentucky University.

Model Laboratory finished with 127 points, while the Eagles had 80 points in the combined team scores.

In the boys competition, Model dominated, out-scoring LCA 84-15.

LCA finished with a slight advantage in the girls scoring, 65-43.

Model had four swimmers earn a pair of first-place    finishes.

Lillie Deprez won the 200 IM and the 100 back, Lauren Shepherd took first in the 50 free and the 100 butterfly, James Schwartz was the winner in the 200 free and 100 butterfly and Cameron Sidor took first place in the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke.

Christopher Jackson took first place in the 100 breaststroke and was second in the 200 free. Jack Miller finished first in the 100 free and was second in the 50 free.

Model boys swept all three relay events — taking first in the 200 medley, 200 free and 400 free.

Sam Shepherd was second in both the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke and Koty Stroschein was second in the 100 backstroke.

Eliza Miller took second in both the 200 free and 100 breaststroke and Maddy Nasrallah was second in both the 200 free and 100 breaststroke.

The Model girls took second place in the 200 medley and 400 free relays as well.

The Patriots are set to return to action Wednesday at EKU against Madison Central and Lafayette.
