TRACK: Botts, Welsing win big at Bluegrass State Games

RICHMOND — Three Model Laboratory track and field athletes had impressive showings at the Bluegrass State Games on Saturday.

Darrian Botts and Melanie Welsing each brought home a gold medal with first place finishes, while Hannah Durbin picked up a couple of silver medals.

Botts set a new Bluegrass State Games record to win the triple jump.

Welsing also set a new games record in the 100 hurdles. It was also a new personal best for Welsing.

She also placed second in the triple jump, third in the long jump and fifth in the 200 meter dash.

Durbin had second-place finishes in the pole vault and 300 hurdles, and also placed fifth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.
