Austin Peay used a big first-half run to take control Wednesday against Berea College and cruised to an easy win in Clarksville, Tenn.
Corey Arentsen and Anthony Campbell each scored 20 points as the Governors (3-3) defeated the Mountaineers, 108-53. Berea College (6-3) shot just 33 percent, including three-of-21 from three-point range, had 19 turnovers and were was out-rebounded 49-30.
The loss was the second-straight for the Mountaineers.
Peay had just a 10-8 lead four minutes into the game. But, the Governors scored 15 straight points as part of game-changing 19-1 run.
At halftime, Peay had a 22-point lead. The Govs out-scored Berea 63-30 in the second half.
Koty Riley had a team-high 13 points for Berea, while Deon Banks had 12 points and Dominique Garmon added 11 points. Trent Maddox had a team-best seven rebounds.
Tevin Webster had six points and six rebounds, Maddox had five points, while Aaron Ponder, Rashad Hayden and Tyler Huff had two points each.
Berea is set to return to action Friday at Seaburry Center against Wilberforce University. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
