The Lady Colonels look to get back on track today after suffering their first loss of the season Friday, when they take on Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the second game for each team in the San Juan Shootout in Puerto Rico.
EKU fell to Florida State 90-51 Friday. The Seminoles used a 26-6 run to end the first half to break open the game.
Brittany Coles and Jade Barber led EKU in scoring against the Seminoles with 11 points each.
Barber had a game-high six rebounds while Coles hit a pair of three pointers that moved her into 10th place on the EKU all-time three pointers list with 98.
Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2-2) fell Saturday to Georgia Tech. The Panthers hung tough before Georgia Tech pulled away in the final few minutes for a 66-57 win.
Four Panthers scored in double figures in the game, led by sophomore Ashley Green with 17.
EKU, which is one of the best rebounding teams in the OVC, will need to control the boards against the Panthers, who in spite of being much smaller across the board, held their own with the much taller Yellow Jackets Saturday, only getting outrebounded 42-40.
The Panther defense held Georgia Tech to 13.3 percent (2-for-15 shooting) from behind the three point line.
Milwaukee returns four starters from last year’s team that finished 9-21, lead by Green, a member of last season’s Horizon League All-Newcomer team after averaging 10.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
Tipoff is scheduled for noon.
