GOLF: Neeley, Neal and Simpson take titles at The Bull

RICHMOND — Local youth golfers continue to shine this summer on the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour.

On Tuesday at the tour stop at The Bull at Boone’s Trace, Richmond’s Mattie Jo Neeley took top honors in the 12 and under girls division, shooting a +14, 50 to top second-place finisher Kate Hanni of Ashland by four strokes.

Madison Central teammate MacKenzie Neal also brought home a first-place finish in the girls 13-15 division, shooting a five over par 77, for a one-shot win over Madison Smith of Union.

Katelynn Simpson of Paint Lick finished first in the girls 16-18 division with a +17, 89.

On the boys side, Mason Hamrick claimed a second-place finish in the boys 10 and under division, shooting a five over par 41. Caleb Ballard finished fifth in the Boys 11-12 division with a +18 54.

On Wednesday at the tour stop at Cherry Blossom Country Club, Hamrick finished in a tie for first place in his age group, shooting a +6, 42.

Neeley placed fifth in the girls 12 and under division at Cherry Blossom with a +12, 48.
