L.L. BASEBALL: Perkins, Hall and Eastman homer as 11s win

LEXINGTON — The Richmond 11-year-old All-Stars had no trouble at all disposing Harrison County 16-0 by mercy-rule in four innings 16-0 in the District 3 Tournament opener Saturday in Lexington.

Richmond broke out the big bats in this one, getting home runs from Colton Perkins, Dawson Hall and Noah Eastman, while seven other players had multiple hits in the game.

While the Richmond bats were booming, pitchers Blake Rader and Zack Cowan were almost unhittable.

The pair pitched two innings each and combined for the one-hit shutout.

The 11-year-old All-Star Tournament features five teams — Anderson County, Eastern, Harrison County, Mercer County and Richmond — playing in one pool.

Each team plays three round-robin games with the top two seeds advancing to the championship game, which is set for July 5.

The Richmond All-Stars return to action today at 2:30 when they take on Lexington Eastern.

The team will then wrap up the round-robin portion of the tournament on Monday against Mercer County.
