H.S. HOOPS: Lady Pirates pick up first win of the season

BEREA — The Lady Pirates (1-3) earned their first win of the season Wednesday, topping North Laurel, 45-44, at home.

Victoria Sexton and Jordan Sandefur each scored 13 points, while Chase Fain added 11 points.

“Our girls used the dribble drive very well and knocked down clutch shots,” Berea coach Jennifer Cornett said. “A goal of our has been to improve our defense and rebound the ball backside. By doing so we got North Laurel in foul trouble early.”

Miranda Montgomery had four points, Conner Coyle had three points and Cristina Morgan had a point.

Berea is set to return to action today at home against Red Bird.
