BOWLING: Simpson near perfect at Galaxy

RICHMOND — Brandon Simpson just missed a perfect game in the Monday Mixed League this week with a 299 score. He also rolled the high series for the week at Galaxy with a 740 total.

Monday Mixed

Brandon Simpson fell just short of rolling the third sanctioned 300 game of his career with a 299 game. Simpson rolled two 300 games during the 2011-12 season.

Simpson opened the first game of his series with 11 strikes, but left the six pin on his 12th ball. He added games of 206 and 235 for a 740 score and his 24th 700 series of the season.

This was Simpson’s first-ever 299 game.

John Hickam bowled the second-best series (706), while the next-best games were 258 by Todd Young and 257 by David Norman.

A 600 series was bowled by Matt Cracraft (666), Norman (657), Lewis Jones Jr. (655), Bill Bowles (643), Tyler Magedanz (634) and Young (621).

The top women’s game was 203 by Miranda Reffitt, while the best women’s series was 498 by Narita Rose.

Paul Crowe converted a 2-10 split.

The Git-R-Done team (Terry Jackson, John Rice, David Norman and Brandon Simpson) holds a three-game lead over the Pittsnogglers (Zach Niekirk, Matt Cracraft and Tyler and Andrew Magedanz) with three weeks remaining in the season.,

Friday Doubles

The high game (268) and series (722) in this league last Friday were bowled by John Hickam.

Kyle Shultz bowled the second-best game with a career-best score of 238, while the second-highest series was 643 by Todd Young. Colin Green rolled a 624 series.

Beth Smith led the ladies in the league with a 128 game and 368 series.

This league will not bowl tonight because of the Independence Day holiday.

Summer Cash Money

Ollie Gasser (204), Russell Truesdale (203), Turner Curtis (202) and Ronnie Norris Sr. (200) bowled the top games on Monday.

The high series scores were 553 by Raymond White and 550 by Gasser.
