BOWLING: Jones Jr. almost hits 300 again

RICHMOND — Southern vs. Lynn Camp

Madison Southern bowled Lynn Camp at the Forest Lanes in Corbin on Jan. 14. The Southern girls won 6-1, but the Eagle boys lost 7-0.

The best games for the Lady Eagles were 191 and 182 by Rebecca Sowder, 159 by Ciara Plants, 151 by Megan Faught and 149 by Heather Smith.

The best boy’s games were bowled by Zeb Davis (158 and 151), John Richmond (138) and Kyle Maggard (127).

Southern will host a match with Montgomery County at Galaxy tonight.

Madison Central vs. Henry Clay

Both the Madison Central boys and girls lost to Henry Clay in a match at Eastland Lanes in Lexington on Jan. 9.

The Blue Devils topped the Lady Indians by a score of 5-2, while the Central boys lost 6-1.

 The best games for the MCHS girls were 203 by Casey Dickerson, 152 by Debborah Harrison, 149 by Abbi Duerson and 134 by Danielle Harrison.

The high scores for the Central boys were not available.

Madison Central vs. Lynn Camp

The Central boys beat Lynn Camp 6-1 and the Central girls won 5-2 in a match at Corbin on Jan. 11.

The best games for the Indians were bowled by Grant Willoughby (212 and 196), Josh Maynard (188), Daelyn White (185), Corbin Roberts (168) and Blake Jackson (154).

The Lady Indians topped Lynn Camp 5-2 with Danielle Harrison (182 and 176), Debborah Harrison (150 and 146) and Casey Dickerson (132) leading the way.

Central was scheduled to host Clark County on Jan. 15.

The KHSAA region 8 bowling tournament is scheduled for the Bowlarama Lanes in Danville on Feb. 1 and 2.

Madison Central and Madison Southern will be among the 16 teams participating in this event.

The boy’s and girl’s teams which finish first and second in the Baker matches — in which five team members alternate bowling a frame — will advance to the state tournament at the Eastland Lanes in Lexington on Feb. 13 and 14.

Also, the top four boys and top four girls in the singles competition will move on to the state tournament.
