MADISON COUNTY —
Madison Central senior Tucker Fair picked up a pair of wins Friday on the opening day of the KHSAA State Wrestling Championships at the All-Tech Arena in Lexington.
Fair defeated Scott County’s Derek Clemens in the first period in his first match, then defeated Tanner Adams of Paul Blazer by pin in his second match.
The wins move Fair in the quarterfinals of the 220-pound weight class, where he will face Austin Myers of Campbell County today. The Central senior is now 26-0 on the season.
In the heavyweight division, Paul Couch suffered a loss by decision (10-5) to Kristofe Humphery of John Hardin. The senior bounced back to pick up two wins in the consolation bracket, defeating Andrew Lee (Calloway County by pin) and Gabriel Lord of Fren Creek by decision (5-0).
Couch will face Chris Martin in consolation round action today.
In the 195-pound weight class, Central’s Logan Thomas lost in the first round to Elijah Miller by pin. Thomas won a consolation round match against Connor Darland of Boyd County, by pin, before being eliminated by Jose Robolledo of Franklin County, by pin.
