The Lady Eagles overcame a poor shooting performance to pick up a solid victory on the road over an 11th Region opponent.
Briana Lanham had 18 points and 11 rebounds as Madison Southern defeated Western Hills, 46-40, Thursday in Frankfort. Rachel Ramey had seven points and eight rebounds and Samantha Parms also had seven points.
Southern (11-16) has won five of its past six games.
The Lady Eagles shot just 28 percent from the field and were four-of-26 from three-point range. Southern was also 14-of-21 from the free throw line and had just 14 turnovers.
Southern had a 12-7 lead after the first quarter, but Western Hills rallied to a 20-19 lead at halftime.
The Lady Eagles were up by two points late in the fourth quarter when Marley Lawson took a charge to help preserve the lead. Southern sealed the win in the closing minutes at the free throw line.
Kelley Freeman had six points, Sarah Smith had five points and Hayden Westfall had four points.
Southern is set to return to action Friday at home against Madison Central.
