The Lady Colonels (8-6, 2-1 OVC) look to finish off their two-game home stand with a win over rival Morehead State (5-11, 1-1 OVC) at 4 p.m. today.
The EKU men will take on Morehead at 7 p.m.
EKU is coming off a close win over Eastern Illinois Monday, in which its league-leading three-point field goal defense held the OVC’s leading three-point shooting team to just 22 percent shooting from deep.
In that game, senior Alex Jones, who will be playing in her 100th career game against Morehead, recorded her 28th career double-double.
That moves her into third place on the all time double-double list. She needs only two more to move into second place.
Senior Raechelle Gray dished out 10 assists in the game against the Panthers, the most by any player in the OVC this season. It was the first time a Lady Colonel recorded 10 assists since Laura Shelton did it in 2004.
Today’s game will be the 83rd meeting between the Lady Eagles and Lady Colonels, with the teams each having won 41 games.
Morehead is led by Terrice Robinson at 16.6 points per game and Almesha Jones at 11.2 points per game.
The Lady Eagles average 53.1 points per game, while giving up an average of 62.9 points per game.
The game can be heard on WEKY 1340 AM.
EKU looking to go 4-0 in OVC
The Colonels are on a three-game OVC winning streak and are coming off their biggest win of the season over Murray State on the road on Wednesday.
EKU (13-3, 3-0 OVC) is looking for its first 4-0 start to OVC play since starting 5-0 in 1978-9. The Colonels also started 3-0 in the conference last year.
Tarius Johnson had his career high in points for the second game in a row after going 8--of-11 from the field and scoring 17 points against the Racers.
Morehead State (8-9, 2-1 OVC) is led by Milton Chavis, who is averaging 12.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
The Eagles are scoring 72 points per game, while allowing their opponents to score 70 points per game.
The Colonels will once again be facing a good rebounding opponent and will be looking for the same type effort on the boards they had against the Racers on Wednesday.
This will be the 179th meeting between the two teams with EKU holding a 104-74 advantage in the series. The Eagles have won three straight games in the series and also have won the past three played in McBrayer Arena.
Game time is 7 p.m. and can be heard on WCYO 100.7 FM and on EKUSports.com. A live broadcast is available on OVCDigitalNetwork.com.
