GOLF: Neal finishes first at PGA Junior Tour event

RICHMOND — Richmond’s Mackenzie Neal placed first at the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour event Wednesday at Gay Brewer Jr. Golf Course in Lexington.

Neal took the top spot in the girls 13-15-year-old division, shooting rounds of 44-41 on her way to a 13 over par 85.

Nick Kubala finished fifth in the boys 17-8 division with a 21 over 93.

Katelynn Simpson of Paint Lick was fifth in the girls 16-18 division with a +34 106.

Musselman-Dunne Tour

Two local golfers competed Wednesday in the final Mussellman-Dunne Golf Tour event of the regular season at Lassing Pointe in Union County.

Cooper Eberle finished fourth in the boys 10-under division with a 20 over par 55.

Zach Miller finished second in the boys 13-14 division with a five over par 76.

Matt Liston of Louisville edged out his St. X teammate, Billy Basham, on the first playoff hole to win the boys championship division, shooting a one over par 72.

Olivia Carson won the girls championship divison with a five over par 76.

The Mussellman-Dunne Tour championships will be July 15-16 at Big Spring Country Club in Louisville.
