The Lady Mountaineers built a seemingly comfortable lead in the first half Tuesday against Midway College in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Berea College had a 22-point lead at halftime before the Lady Eagles battled back.
Midway got within six points (73-67) with just 1:51 left in regulation before the Lady Mountaineers were able to pull away. Berea had four players in double figures in the 76-67 victory at the Seabury Center.
Johnesha Warren had 19 points and 10 assists as the Lady Mountaineers improved their record to 4-2 on the season.
Erika Parks had 13 points off the bench, Anna Loveless also had 13 points and eight rebounds, while K.K. Butler added 12 points and six rebounds.
Berea shot 62 percent from the floor in the first half and had a 27-point lead early in the game. At halftime, the Lady Mountaineers were up 50-28.
Berea was up by 19 points with 5:30 left in the second half, but a 13-0 run got Midway back in the game. The Lady Mountaineers held the Lady Eagles scoreless from that point on.
Malena Steve had eight points, Kaitlynne Smith added seven points and five rebounds, while Victoria Cox and Megan Walker each added two points.
The team combined for 60 turnovers in the game. Midway won the rebounding battle, 49-40.
After playing five-straight games at home, the Lady Mountaineers are set to play five-straight games on the road. Berea is set to return to action Friday at Kentucky Christian University.
