On Sunday, The Madison County Terminators Flag Football Team opened its season by participating in the regional tournament at Thomas Moore College.
More than 250 athletes from 19 counties participated in this weekend's tournament and it was the Northern Kentucky Dragons who took the gold. However, with long passes from David Fish, great runs my Deyonta Rowland and the strong defensive moves from Robbie Ashcraft this team was able to bring the silver medal back to Madison County.
Coach Jason Strothman said that the team, which represents the Madison County Special Olympics, did a great job and that he was proud of their hard work on the field today.
Assistant coach Lavonda Stewart said she was very proud of the team and that she can't wait to get back on the practice field to build the team's skills and get ready for their next tournament. Coach Strothman reports that he would love to see Madison County get behind the team this year and show their support.
"The boys work hard in practice and it would be great to have a stand full of fans at the state games to cheer them on in June, we will take all the support we can get from the community," he said.
This year's team includes: Robbie Ashcraft, David Baker, Chase Barnes, Gary Felix, David Fish, Ethan Marita, James Perm, Cade Randle and Deyonta Rowland.
