CROSS COUNTRY: Central takes seventh

RICHMOND — Led by Mason Crump and Brennan Fields, the Madison Central boys cross country team finished seventh Saturday at the Lexington Catholic Invitational at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Crump finished 25th in the 5K race, posting a time of 17:09.79. Fields was 28th, posting a time of 17:13.48.

Madison Central finished ninth in the girls race behind solid performances from Gabriella Sabino (44th, 20:48.46) and Anna Marshall (51st, 21:06.52).

In the small schools competition, Model’s Janie Ward was 45th in the girls race and Model’s Jack Frisbee was 52nd in the boys race.

The Central boys had five runners place in the top 80 in the large schools race. Kyle Kelsey was 63rd, Griffin Sexton was 71st and Maxwell Synder was 80th.

Central’s Grant Brockman finished 109th and Parker Stanley was 134th.

Central finished with a total team score of 240, which was just eight points behind sixth-place Bowling Green.

Central’s girls had six runners finish in the top 100. Julia Manning was 67th, Ivanna Sabino was 70th, Sarah Franklin finished 88th and Anna Knox finished 100th.

Central finished with a total team score of 310.

Model did not have enough runners competing to post a team score in small schools girls and boys races, but still had some solid results.

For the girls, Hannah Nnormele was 74th, Reagan Cole was 75th and Coco May was 135th.

In the boys race, Model’s Nathan Rininger was 91st.

Bailey Rosenbarker led Berea Community in the girls small school race. She finished 58th, leading the Lady Pirates to a 20th-place finish.

Sofia Saderholm finished 85th, Rhiannon Connor was 144th, Ashley Hart was 149th and Grace Beavin was 152nd.

Berea Community finished 18th in the small schools boys race. Lincoln Satterthwaite finished 76th, Raymond McKinney was 99th, Bryce Rosenbarker was 115th, Derek Castle was 116th, Eliot Gardner was 140th, William Spencer was 153rd and Joseph Mecham was 154th.
