Volleyball

No Madison County team has ever won a match at the region volleyball tournament.

Madison Central and Madison Southern will look to end that drought this week in Berea.

The Lady Indians earned their first district title since 2006 by defeating Madison Southern in last week’s 44th District Tournament. Central claimed the championship with a 3-1 (21-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-22) win.

Southern is back in the 11th Region Tournament for the first time since 2010.

Girls Soccer

Madison Southern and Madison Central staged an epic battle in last week’s 44th District Tournament championship game.

Neither team scored through regulation and two overtimes. Central prevailed 4-3 in the shootout, giving the school’s its first district title since 2007.

The Lady Indians and Lady Eagles both have 17 wins, the second-most in the 11th Region.

Still, no Madison County team has won a match at the regional since 2006.

Boys Soccer

Model advanced to the regional final last season before falling to Dunbar in the title game, 2-1.

The Patriots are back and looking to once again make a deep run.

Model defeated Madison Southern in last week’s 44th District title game, rallying from a late deficit to pick up a 4-3 win.

The Eagles are back in the regional tournament for the first time since 2010. They earned the chance to move on after beating Madison Central, 3-2, in last week’s district semifinal.
