H.S. BASEBALL: Model rolls to Senior Night victory

RICHMOND — For the second-straight day, the Model Laboratory baseball rolled to a lopsided victory.

The Patriots scored six times in the first inning and went on to pick up a 10-3 win over Wolfe County on Tuesday in Richmond on Senior Night. Senior Jared Adams pitched a complete game and had 12 strikeouts.

With the back-to-back wins, Model improves its record to 8-12 on the season.

The Patriots picked up a 15-3 win Monday on the road over Paris. On Tuesday, their offense was hot once again.

Tanner Thornberry was 2-for-4 with three RBI. Johnny Jones, Colton Cobb and Garrison Gray were all 2-for-4.

The Patriots have won five of their past six games.

Model is set to return to action Thursday at Pineville.

Southern 12, Rockcastle 6

The Eagles’ offense put together another impressive performance on Tuesday.

After scoring 11 runs in a win over Lincoln County Monday at home, Madison Southern rolled to a 12-6 win on the road at Rockcastle County.

Easten Shouse pitched a complete game and allowed only two earned runs. He also went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI.

Jacob Dixon was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. John Meeks was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Lane Owen was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored. Griffen Norris was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Conner Buchanan was 1-for-4 with an RBI and Jonathan Ross was 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

Southern had a season-best 10 hits.

The Eagles (5-21) are set to wrap up the regular season Thursday at Knox Central.
