H.S. SOFTBALL: Lady Indians roll past Pulaski County, 12-0

RICHMOND — The Lady Indians used a late surge to pull away for an easy road win Friday in Somerset.

Madison Central (18-8) built a 5-0 lead then scored seven times in the sixth inning to secure a 12-0 win over Pulaski County at the Breast Cancer Awareness Showcase. MacKenzie Wilder allowed just two hits and did not walk a batter in the complete-game victory, while striking out three.

Central pounded out 10 hits. Sarah Arthur led the offensive attack, going 3-for-4 with a double, triple, a walk, three RBI and a run scored.

Kasi Schneid had two hits, scored three times and also walked and drove in a run.

Central took a 2-0 lead in the second after Schneid singled, Wilder walked and Arthur ripped a two-run single.

In the fourth, Wilder walked again and Arthur followed with an RBI triple.

In the fifth inning, Emily Frakes walked, Morgan Elliston singled and Schneid walked. Courtney Patton then delivered a two-run double to put the Lady Indians up 5-0.

In the sixth, Arthur doubled, then Elliston and Sammie Walczyk both pushed across runs with sac bunts. Later in the inning, Schneid and Raegan Coyle added RBI singles.

Sydney Vaughn had a hit and scored a run and Elliston scored twice.

Central is set to return to action in the tournament at 10:30 a.m. against Pulaski County.
