H.S. VOLLEYBALL: Southern, Central set for region tourney

RICHMOND — Madison Central and Madison Southern will play in the 11th Region Volleyball Tournament, which begins Monday at Western Hills High School in Frankfort. The Lady Eagles (14-13) begin tournament play on Monday when they take on Woodford County (15-11) at 7:30 p.m.

Henry Clay and Tates Creek play in the opener Monday at 6 p.m.

The Lady Indians (15-12) take on Franklin County (19-13) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Scott County and Dunbar meet in the opener Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Winners from Monday and Tuesday will face off on Wednesday at 6 and 7:30 p.m.

Central and Southern will be looking do something no other Madison County team has ever done, pick up win in the regional tournament.

Central took on Franklin County earlier this year and suffered a 3-1 setback.

Woodford and Southern did not play during the regular season.

Central defeated Southern, 3-0, Tuesday in Richmond to claim a second-straight district championship.
