The Lady Indians battled back from an early deficit, but couldn’t keep the momentum going Tuesday on the road.
Madison Central fell to 11th Region rival Franklin County, 3-1, in Frankfort. The Lady Flyers won by scores of 25-15, 26-28, 25-13, 25-19.
Payton Templeton led the Lady Indians with 13 kills and also had five digs and two blocks.
Central had just eight service errors on 76 serves. Katie Stuart had 27 assists and seven aces with no errors on 23 serves.
Tyra Cain had three kills, two blocks and an ace. Cheyenne Bailey had five kills and two aces.
Kiara Clayton had 10 digs and an ace. Sam Walczyk had three kills, one block, 11 digs and one ace.
In the second set, Templeton led the Lady Indians to a hard-fought win. The sophomore had eight kills, two blocks, two digs and an ace.
Stuart had 14 assists, four digs and an ace. Walczyk had six digs and Bailey had four kills.
Central (14-10) is set to return to action next Tuesday at Lexington Catholic.
Southern wins on road
The Madison Southern volleyball team was able to grind out a very hard-fought win Tuesday on the road.
The Lady Eagles defeated Jackson County, 3-2. Southern won by scores of 15-25, 25-16, 25-17, 24-26, 17-15.
Southern is set to return to action next Tuesday against Berea at home.
