Southern looking for nominations for Hall of Fame

RICHMOND — Madison Southern High School is looking for nominations for individuals for the inaugural class in the newly created Madison Southern Hall of Fame.

Candidates for consideration must have attended Madison Southern High School or have made significant contributions to MSHS, i.e. a coach, teacher or volunteer.

Nominations are open and available for anyone. Persons may be nominated by a second party or they may nominate themselves.

The selection committee will accept nominations until May 5.

The six categories for nomination include: Academics, Arts and Humanities, Athletics, Career, Patron and Public Service.

In the event that a candidate is not selected the first year the name is submitted, the applicant and supporting materials will be kept on file and reconsidered each year thereafter for two years. After two years, the nomination will have to be resubmitted.

Induction ceremonies will be held at the first football game of the season.

Inductees per class:

1st year: 8

2nd year: 10

3rd year: 8

4th year: 7

5th year: and all subsequent years 5.

Distribution of inductees among categories:

1st and 2nd years: at least one representative per category.

3rd year and all subsequent years: the number will be based on the volume of applications and the discretion of the selection committee.

The selection committee will consist of:

Principal David Gilliam or Asst. Principal Charles Cash

Athletic Director Doug Sallee or designee

Booster club president or designee

Extra-Curricular Committee Chair Shane Buttry or designee
