H.S. SOFTBALL: Lady Patriots fall to Wolfe County

RICHMOND — The Lady Patriots had just two hits and suffered a 4-2 loss Wednesday at home to Wolfe County.

Model scored twice in the fourth inning to get back within a run, but the Lady Wolves (5-7) added a run in the sixth to seal the victory.

Model starter Grace Weitcamp limited Wolfe County to just four hits. Still, five errors by the Lady Patriots turned out to be costly.

With loss, the Lady Patriots fall to 0-3 on the season.

Wolfe County scored once in the first and twice in the third. In the fourth inning, the Lady Patriots got back in the game.

Hayley Hunt walked, Kasi Schneid reached on a fielder’s choice and later scored, Lauren Stapp singled and scored and Katie Rothwell reached on an error.

Kylee Miller had Model’s only other hit.

The Lady Patriots are set to return to action April 12 against Berea Community in the 11th Region All “A” Classic at LCA.

Model picks up first wins of season

The Model Laboratory baseball team picked up its first wins of the season on Wednesday. The Patriots swept a doubleheader on the road at Barbourville, 17-2 and 12-5.

Model is now 2-6 on the season.

Seth Marks got the win in the first game and Jared Adams earned the victory in the second game.

Jesse Middleton had a big day at the plate, with a double and three singles. Turner Curtis and Joe Hampton each had a triple and a single. Adams also had three singles.

Model is set to return to action today at home against Rockcastle County. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
