The Colonels look to extend their season-opening win streak to six games at 7 p.m. today against Delaware State (3-4) in McBrayer Arena.
As they did Sunday against Norfolk State, EKU has a chance to avenge a loss from last season when the Hornets won 57-43 in Dover.
EKU used a 20-5 run midway through the second half to win going away 68-44 over the Spartans.
The Colonels got big games from Mike DiNunno, 19 points, Glen Cosey, 14 points and four assists and Corey Walden, who scored 15 points and had four steals.
EKU also shot better than 50 percent from the field for the third game this season.
Delaware State (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference — MEAC) is coming off a 63-53 loss to Navy. The Hornets have dropped four in a row after opening the season with three-straight wins.
The Hornets average 65 points per game and are led by sophomore Tahj Tate with 13.7 points per game and senior Kendall Gray who averages 9.2 points per game.
They are pulling down an average of 34.6 rebounds per game, led by senior Marques Oliver with 5.3 per game and Gray with 5.2 per game.
The Colonels have three players averaging double figures in scoring through six games led by Cosey’s 17.8 points per game, DiNunno with 13.8 per game and Corey Walden at 10.4 points per game.
EKU is averaging 79.2 points per game while limiting their opponents to 63 points per game. The Colonels average 29 rebounds per game while their opponents are averaging 32 rebounds per game.
The Colonel defense is forcing their opponents into 19.6 turnovers per game, eight more per game than they commit themselves.
The Colonel’s are the only undefeated Division I team remaining in the state.
