All-Star games in Richmond, Lawrenceburg rained out

Register Staff Report

RICHMOND — All games in the District 3 11-12-year-old All-Star Tournament at Lake Reba were rained out on Monday and will now be played today, weather permitting.

The Richmond National-Winchester and the Eastern American-Anderson County games were halted in the bottom of the first innings. Because the games did not complete the first inning, according to Little League rules, the games will restart from the beginning at 6 p.m. today.

The Richmond American-Harrison County game will follow at 8 p.m.

9-10-year old All-Stars

The Richmond American 9-10-year-old All-Stars suffered a 14-4 loss to Mercer County in their opening game in the District 3 Tournament Sunday in Lawrenceburg.

Richmond got two runs in the second inning on a Blake Raider double. With the score tied 2-2, Mercer County broke the game open with eight runs in the third inning.

Richmond got two runs back in the fourth on a Colton Perkins double to cut the lead to 10-4, but Mercer countered with one run in the fourth and three more in the fifth to put the game away.

Zachary Holbrook led the way for Richmond at the plate, going 3-for-3, while Perkins, Raider, Dawson Hall and Canon Centers each had a double, and Nate Haskins and Sean Lyle added one single each.

Brady Vaughn started and went three innings on the mound for Richmond and Haskins pitched two innings in relief.

Richmond American is back in action on Wednesday at 6 p.m. after games at Lawrenceburg were pushed back a day because of rain.
