H.S. BASKETBALL: Brooks, Feldhaus honored again

RICHMOND — The postseason honors continue to pile for two standout Madison Central High School seniors.

On Tuesday, Ashton Feldhaus and Larryn Brooks were both named to the 2013 Girls Basketball Team. honors the state’s top 10 players, with emphasis on building a true team. The team recognizes 10 players whose versatility and all-around contributions to their respective teams sets them apart.

The rest of the 2013 teams includes: Ivy Brown (Larue County), China Dow (Christian Academy Louisville), Makayla Epps (Marion County), Rebecca Greenwell (Owensboro Catholic), Maci Morris (Bell County), Kyvin Goodin Rogers (Marion County), Chelsey Shumpert (Paducah Tilghman) and  Olivia Voskuhl (Notre Dame).

Epps was named the 2013 Player of the Year.

Last weekend, Feldhaus and Brooks were both selected to play for the Kentucky All-Star Team.

Brooks was also one of the five finalists for this year’s Miss Basketball Award.

Feldhaus and Brooks were four-year starters for the Lady Indians and led the team to two 11th Region championships (2013, 2011).

Both scored more than a 1,000 points in their careers and have signed with Division I Schools — Brooks with Indiana University and Feldhaus with Butler.

Led by Brooks and Feldhaus, the Lady Indians defeated Dunbar in the 11th Region title game before falling to eventual state runner-up Notre Dame in the opening round of the Sweet 16 in Bowling Green.

Brooks and Feldhaus both earned all-district and all-region honors this season as well.
