H.S. BASEBALL: Indians fall to Lone Oak, 4-1

RICHMOND — Senior Zach Roethemeyer allowed just five hits as Lone Oak defeated Madison Central, 4-1, Monday at the Florida Beach Bash in Ft. Walton Fla.

With the loss, the Indians fall to 5-2 on the season.

Ben Morin had two hits and a RBI for Central, while Jimmy Wright, Nick Kavanaugh and Chris Wells also had hits.

Alex Georgel started for the Indians and went 3 1/3 innings, allowing seven hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout. Trey Sexton pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing two hits, two runs and three walks.

Austin Templeton and Ben Fisher also both pitched in relief.

Central took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Wright singled and scored on a single by Morin.

Lone Oak scored once in the second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

Roethemeyer went the distance and allowed three walks, while striking out four.

Central opened play in the tournament with a 3-2 win over Russell County Sunday in Florida.

Morin was 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Chris Wells was 1-for-2 and drove in a run, Wright was 1-for-3 and Jonah Kelsey was 1-for-2 with a walk.

Three Central pitchers limited Russell County to two hits.

Kyle Kelsey started and went three innings, allowing one hit, two runs and three walks, with one strikeout. Brady McBride pitched 1 1/3 innings and Zach Voll pitched the final 2 2/3 innings and recorded four strikeouts.

Central got two runs in the second and another run in the third.

In the second, Morin singled and scored, Kavanaugh reached on an error, Jonah Kelsey walked and Chris Wells delivered an RBI single.

In the third, Morin singled and scored.

The Indians are set to return to action at 9 a.m. today against Jeffersontown.
