SWIMMING: Central swimmers shine again

Register staff report

RICHMOND — The Madison Central High School swim team competed Saturday in the Lake Cumberland Invitational.

Central was without two of its top performers — Trent and Morgan Lakes. Still, the Lady Indians missed first place by only 2.5 points.

Abbigail Thompson had an outstanding performance, winning the 100-yard butterfly and taking second in the 100-yard backstroke.

Caroline Smith continued her excellent senior year, taking first place in both the 100 and 200 freestyle.

Molly Ford followed up her top first-place finish at Woodford County with a second-place finish in the 50 and 100 freestyle.

Chase Baldwin continued to carry the load for the boys team with a runaway win in the 100 yard backstroke and a second-place finish in the 50 yard freestyle.

Smith, Ford, Thompson and Tilly Baldwin also took first place in the 200 yard medley relay.

“Our young swimmers were outstanding again led by Tilly Baldwin’s second-place finish in the 500 yard freestyle,” Central coach Rich Livingston said.

The Indians have one more meet at home — Jan. 22 at the Telford YMCA (5:30 p.m.).
