The Richmond National 11-12 year-old All-Star team opened play Saturday in the District 3 Tournament with an impressive offensive performance.
The All-Stars hit five home runs, one in each inning, and rolled to a 15-5 win over Mercer County at Lake Reba.
Also on Saturday, the Richmond American 11-12 year-old All-Star team suffered a 2-1 loss to Eastern American in its opening game of the District 3 Tournament at Lake Reba.
Richmond National scored in every inning and rolled to a five-inning victory, 15-5, over Mercer County.
Devin Ecklar, Matthew McQuain, Cameron Craig, Stephen Golson and Ben Snapp each homered for Richmond National.
Richmond National scored four times in the first inning, then added three runs in the second, two runs in both the third and fourth inning, then scored four more times in the fifth inning.
Clay Combs started on the mound for Richmond National. Jacob Beck and Snapp also pitched for the All-Stars.
Snapp and Golson each scored three times, McQuain and Ecklar scored twice, while Ethan Hahn, Combs, Craig, Dalton Gregory and Brandon Adams each scored once.
Richmond National is set to return to action Monday at 6 p.m. against Winchester.
Bennie Hurt hit a solo home run in the second inning, but Richmond American couldn’t hold on for a win Saturday at the 11-12 year-old All-Star Tournament.
Eastern American scored a run in the second and another in the fifth inning to pick up a 2-1 win.
Richmond American had several scoring threats. In the third, Tyler Santiago singled and Lucas Myers was hit by a pitch.
In the fifth inning, Jason Deerfield and Myers both had hits and Kenton Humphrey had a single in the sixth.
Santiago, Humphrey and Waterbeck all pitched for the All-Stars.
Richmond American is set to return to action Monday at 8 p.m. against Harrison County.
