H.S. CROSS COUNTRY: Indians take sixth at Rumble Through the Jungle

RICHMOND — On Saturday, the Madison Central Cross Country team competed at the Rumble Through the Jungle meet in Louisville.

The girls varsity team, comprised of Julie Manning (20:52), Melanie Manning (21:27), Ivanna Sabino (21:37), Alexa Snyder (22:17), Anna Knox (22:21), Anna Marshal (22:50), Amber Walters (24:02), and Kimmy Mosher (25:08), took ninth place against some of the top teams in the state.

The squad had an overall improvement from last year at this race of 52 seconds for each of the top five runners. Four of the girls on the team also turned in personal best times at the 5k distance, according to milesplit.com.

The boys varsity team, composed of Brennan Fields (16:47), Mason Crump (17:10), Griffin Sexton (17:16), Grant Brockman (18:03), Parker Stanley (19:06), Josh Perrin (19:57), and Chris Morrow (20:15), finished sixth in a field that included last year’s state champions. The squad had an overall improvement from last year at the race of 44 seconds for each of the top five runners. Five of the boys on the team turned in personal best times at the 5k distance, according to milesplit.com.
