H.S. BASEBALL: Central picks up win in Florida

RICHMOND — The Madison Central baseball team had just seven hits and committed five errors but still picked up a win Thursday at the Florida Beach Bash.

Joseph Holbrook had two hits, walked twice, drove in a run and scored twice as the Indians (7-3) topped Nelson County, 8-3.

So far during their Spring Break trip, the Indians are 3-1.

The Indians fell behind 1-0, but tied the game in the bottom of the first inning when Ben Morin reached on an error and scored on a Holbrook single.

In the second inning, Austin Alexander singled and scored.

In the third inning, Holbrook walåked and scored.

Central got three runs in the fifth. Seth Richardson was hit by a pitch and scored a run. Holbrook singled and scored and Kirk Humphrey singled and scored.

In the sixth inning, Morin walked and scored and Richardson singled and scored.

Jeremy Lakes started and went 5 2/3 innings, giving up six hits and three runs (only one earned). Zach Voll got the save, pitching 1 1/3 innings with one walk and one strikeout.

Central will wrap up the trip today against Fairdale.
