After dropping their first two games on Saturday, the Lady Indians finished up strong.
Madison Central rallied from a three-run deficit to top Walton-Verona, 4-3, in Richmond. Earlier in the day, the Lady Indians (1-3) suffered losses to Rockcastle County, 7-6, and Manual, 10-0.
The games were part of the Madison Central Round Robin, which featured six games Saturday in Richmond.
In the final game of the day, Walton-Verona took a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning. The Lady Indians answered right back, scoring three times in the bottom of the inning.
Katie Brock singled and scored, Emily Frakes tripled and scored and Sarah Arthur had an RBI single and scored a run.
Central took the lead in the fifth. Kirsten Spillman reached on an infield single and scored the game-winning run which secured the team’s first win of the season.
Walton-Verona had runners on base in the sixth and seventh, but MacKenzie Wilder worked out of both jams to earn the complete-game victory.
In the first game of the day, Frakes was 3-for-4 with two RBIs against Rockcastle County. Central scored once in the second, three times in the fourth and once more in the sixth and seventh innings.
Jadelyn Rice had two hits, Arthur scored two runs, Summer Fleeman had a hit and scored a run, while Spillman had a hit.
Olivia Moon started and went three innings. Wilder pitched the final three innings.
In the loss to Manual, MacKenzie Humphrey had two hits, while Spillman, Fleeman, Brock and Arthur had hits.
Central is set to return to action Tuesday at home against Somerset.
