A pair of Madison County golfers posted impressive results Wednesday at the Kentucky Junior Amateur Championships at My Old Kentucky Home Golf Course in Bardstown.
In the boys 10-and-under division, Richmond’s Mason Hamrick won by six strokes over Cayden Pope of Lexington. Hamrick, a 9-year-old, shot a 37 in Tuesday’s first round, then shot a 41 on Wednesday in the final round.
He finished with a total score of +8, 78.
Hamrick has won several titles this summer playing in various state-wide golf events.
In the girls 13-15 age group, Richmond’s MacKenzie Neal finished second, two strokes behind Ke’Asha Phillips of Owensboro.
Neal shot an 80 on both days and had a one-stroke lead after the first round. She finished with a total score of +18.
Phillips shot a 73, the lowest round of the tournament in the age group, on Wednesday.
Eberle takes second
Richmond’s Cooper Eberle finished second in the 10-and-under boys division Thursday at the Musselman-Dunne Tour event at Old Silo Golf Club in Mt. Steling.
Eberle shot a +12, 48, and finished five shots back of Drew Wallace of La Grange.
