H.S. BASEBALL/SOFTBALL: Berea falls, Southern rallies late to beat Clark County




Somerset 20, Model 8

The Briar Jumpers blew open a close game late Tuesday against Model Laboratory in Richmond.

Somerset scored 12 runs in the final four innings to defeat the Patriots, 20-8. Model (4-11) trailed 8-0, but got back in the game, cutting that lead to three runs.

Jesse Middleton was 3-for-5 with a home run, single and a double.

Somerset scored twice in the first, then added six more runs in the second inning.

In the bottom of the second, Tanner Thornsberry reached base and Jared Adams walked. Ray White delivered a two-run single. Middleton then hit a three-run home run to cut the Somerset lead to 8-5.

Model is set to return to action Thursday at Jackson County.
