KIAC HOOPS: Berea College drops conference opener

RICHMOND — Daishon Robinson had a game-best 23 points and three other players reached double-figures in scoring, but it wasn’t enough to lead Berea College to a victory in its KIAC opener Friday at the Seabury Center.

Indiana University-East (5-9) held on for an 86-85 win over the Mountaineers in a game that featured 11 ties and 11 lead changes. The Red Wolves led by 14 points mid-way through the first half, but Berea battled back.

Tevin Webster had 14 points, eight rebounds and four blocks for Berea. London Moore had 12 points, six rebounds and three steals. Seth Beckham had 10 points, Richard Parker added eight points and Anthony Myrks had six points, six rebounds and five assists.

IUE had a had a 41-39 lead at halftime.

Berea shot 46 percent from the field and hit seven-of-16 three-point attempts.

Robinson was three-of-six from three-point range and also had four rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Berea is set to return to action Sunday at Shawnee State.
