The Eastern Kentucky University football team is set to face a tough schedule next season.
The schedule, which was officially announced on Thursday, features 12 games for the second-straight season, only five of which are at Roy Kidd Stadium.
The Colonels will play just one home game in the first seven weeks of the season and will make trips to a pair of Football Bowl Subdivision Schools — Miami (Ohio) and Florida.
EKU is set to open the season Thursday Aug. 28 against Robert Morris in Moon Township, Pa. The teams played in last year’s season opener on a Thursday night at Roy Kidd Stadium.
The Colonels will then travel to Oxford, Ohio on Sept. 6 to take on Miami University. The game will mark the first time EKU has played a MAC team in 11 years — 2003 at Central Michigan.
EKU’s first home game is set for Sept. 13 against Morehead State.
The Colonels’ only other non-conference game is scheduled for the last week of the regular season. EKU will visit The Swamp to take on the Gators on Nov. 22.
Florida will be just the third SEC team EKU has ever played. The Colonels faced Vanderbilt once (2004) and Kentucky three times (last time in 2009).
The Colonels open the OVC schedule with back-to-back road games — UT-Martin (Sept. 20) and Austin Peay (Oct. 4) — before returning home to take on defending league champ Eastern Illinois (Oct. 11).
The 2014 Homecoming game features Southeast Missouri on Oct. 25. EKU has won seven straight Homecoming matchups as well as nine of the last 10 match-ups against the Redhawks.
EKU winds down its OVC schedule with back-to-back home games against Jacksonville State (Nov. 8) and Murray State (Nov. 15).
