Piranhas compete in virtual national meet

The Telford YMCA Piranhas swim team had a good showing at the first-ever YMCA National Virtual Swim Meet, which was held at locations all across the country last week.
The meet took scores from a specified list of the events and compared them to scores from meets all across the country. Out of the 179 teams and 9,242 swimmers that participated from around the country, the Piranhas finished 56th overall, with a 38th placing in the boys division overall and a 64th placing in the girls division.
In the 11- and 12-year-old boys division, Telford finished in 10th place nationwide. John Babuka and Chase Baldwin led this division for the Piranhas. Babuka placed sixth in the 200-meter individual medley, while Baldwin was just two places back in eighth place. Babuka also placed 14th, with Baldwin again two places back in 16th, in the 50-meter backstroke. In the 50-meter backstroke, Babuka finished in 16th place, while teammate Mitchell Collins placed 28th.
In the 15-and-older girls division, Telford placed 30th nationwide. Summer Spillman placed 20th in the 100-meter butterfly and 32nd in the 200-meter individual medley, while Rikki Babuka finished 24th in the 100-meter breaststroke and 31st in the 200-meter individual medley. Olivia Smith also placed 36th in the 100-meter breaststroke.
Morgan Lakes also helped the Piranhas to a 34th finish in the 11- and 12-year-old girls division with a 23rd place in the 200-yard individual medley. Trent Lakes also placed 28th in the 10-and-under 50-meter backstroke and 43rd in the 100-meter individual medley.
The group that competed for the Piranhas was: Savannah Whitson, Zoe Robinson, Hailee Hill, Kayla Compton, Madeline Lee, Jayna Singleton, Tilly Baldwin, Lillie Deprez, Mallory Burford, Hadley Neal, Loren Collins, Crystal Wilson, Rebekah Carson, Makenzie Burford, Jilianna Singleton, Ali Rogers, Kaleigh Waterbeck, Laura Smith, Madison Robinson, Rainey Durham, Aspen Bentley, Lucas Schneider, Zane Zhang, Mason Neal, Evan Singleton, Andrew Logan, Dallas Merrill, Nathan Hudson, Matthew Frazier, Christopher Grise, John Dunlap and Nolan Batch.
