County attorneys guilty of topping 80 golfers
Glenmore Jones

RICHMOND —
The team lead by Madison County attorney Marc Robbins pled guilty Tuesday to beating 80 golfing attorneys from 20 other Kentucky counties in a scramble at The Bull. This American Cancer Society benefit was won by Marc Robbins, Jack Conway, Clay Bishop, Jr. and Clay Bishop III with a (Wow!) 20-under par 52.
The second place Laurel County team of J. L. Albright, Keith Early, Jim McCloven and Jason Estep also shot a 52 but lost on a verdict handed down by the scorecard. Third place went to Christian County with Lincoln Foster, Mike Foster, Livy Leavell and Bobby Nichols with a 54.
In the special events the closest to the pin honors went to Kevin Burns, No. 4; Anna Roberts Smith, No. 8; David Jenkins, No. 14; and Caleb Brock, No. 17. In the longest drive contest, the winners were: Joseph Meadow, No. 6; Clay Bishop III, No. 9; Doug McCain, No. 13; and Lee Riddle, No. 16.
The last-place team of Janet Ghram, Gina Carey, Bob Stokes and Dennis Spaulding received wind jackets. All the players received a shirt with engraving that read “Convictions Are Par For The Course”.
It was a fun day of golf on a beautiful golf course and a very successful fundraiser for a worthy cause. Congratulations to our Madison County team on some great golf. You da men!
Special thanks to Tom Giacchini for faxing me these results.
Mahalo!

Battlefield won by an 18 1/2 to 12 1/2 score. Five matches were halved with 1/2 point to each player.
After play, pro Clay Hamrick and his staff served a delicious barbecue dinner to the hungry golfers and the bragging set in. It was a great day of competitive golf by the two friendly rivals on a beautiful golf course.
Thanks to Brenda and Joe Blankenship for this fine report. Gracious!
FLASH! Better late than never – Sean Hensley and son, Dylan, won the parent/child 18-hole golf tournament at Arlington Aug. 2 with some great golf.
Earl Phillips had a hole-in-one on the 146-yard No. 6 hole at Gibson Bay on Aug. 3. It was witnessed by James and Mike Caudill. Hats off to Sean, Dylan and Earl. You’re tops!
